Getting food poisoning (44%), having an accident (26%) and no hospital nearby (25%) appear to be the biggest health concerns on holiday. Going completely carefree on all the delicious food and drinks does not apply to everyone; eleven percent are afraid to arrive on holiday. It is striking that men are significantly more concerned about gaining a few extra pounds than women (18% versus 5% respectively). This is apparent from research by review platform Zoover among more than 1,500 respondents.
Staying on holiday is also an uncertain factor for many Dutch people. Hygiene is particularly important to us. No less than 68 percent are concerned about a dirty accommodation. In addition, bad beds (45%), noise pollution (36%) and a dirty swimming pool (26%) are the main concerns when it comes to the stay. Striking difference between men and women:men are much more likely than women to worry about food at the accommodation (31% vs. 21% respectively) and unfriendly staff (26% vs. 17%), respectively.
Seven percent of the respondents are worried about the people staying at home during a holiday. Three quarters of them say they are afraid that something will happen to those who stay at home. In addition, a quarter is worried about his or her pet. Once on holiday, the Dutch seem to be able to let go of their work; but three percent are afraid that something will go wrong at work.
