Traveling safely together is something that I find so important that I spontaneously get stressed about it. Shortly after the birth of my daughter, after extensive online research, I had chosen an ISOFIX car seat, which was labeled as very safe by the consumer association. My daughter could use this until 15 months and I "only" spent €250.

Anyway, my daughter is now almost 2 and since her head was above the seat of the previous “maxi cosi” shaped car seat (with handle and basket, so to speak), I always borrow suitable seats from friends of my parents when we are on the road. go out. I had already researched car seats, but that was quite a case of the same choice stress I had two years ago (only fortunately without the pregnancy and breast-feeding hormones that made everything even more difficult). It was really time for another chair and I had to make a decision. And then the Maxi Cosi Axissfix Plus came my way! Children from 0 to 4 years old can enter here.
To be fair, I initially thought this was too expensive (for sale from €449 in the Netherlands, but suitable for the first four years). If I had known how easy it is to use and how relaxed my daughter is in it, I would have ordered this right away and no longer have to worry about it. With the previous car seat, installing the ISOFIX was really a job that took me time, zen and clipped short nails. The Maxi Cosi Axissfix Plus, on the other hand, is really very easy to put in the car. I just watched a video on YouTube of how to attach the seat. And in real life it was just as easy as that!
I only had to do four things:seat in car, ISOFIX hooks in ISOFIX adapter, attach top tether strap to top tether hook and regret not having gone for such an easy-to-use car seat sooner. The sliders and buttons worked smoothly and felt solid. As soon as the ISOFIX hooks were in place, the window immediately turned green. The seat was really solid, there was no more play. While my previous seat could still wobble. In the attached video you can see how you can attach the chair.
Another very positive point in this Maxi Cosi Axissfix Plus review… Did I mention that the seat could rotate? This allows you to easily put and fasten your child in the far too small parking spaces where the car door cannot open wide in the busy city. It also seems very easy to me if you are still recovering from the birth, are pregnant with a second, or when grandpa/grandma goes out with the little one. The big question is why this was not invented much earlier and is a standard option on car seats!
You turn the seat towards you, put your child in it, fasten the straps and then turn it back to click your child in the right place. Up to two years they can be transported backwards, and after that they have to go the other way around with their too long legs. Reverse transport for up to 15 months is now mandatory! The straps longer and shorter are also so much easier than with any other car seat I've ever used. My daughter was very well secured, and I was able to hit the road with peace of mind, because I really felt that she was very securely fastened.
Also a really great feature that every item that needs little twisters should have are two simple hooks to pre-attach the straps. That way you don't have to fumble for the straps under your struggling and protesting toddler. (Can someone tip the YEPP bicycle seat manufacturer or should I do it myself?) Maxi Cosi really shows that this seat is not only for the safety of the apples of the eye, but also for the convenience of the busy city mom.
One last advantage that I must not forget to mention is the lying position! Many seats for children of 2 and older do not have this, but because this seat is suitable for both small babies and children of 4, there is a reclining position that is also very useful for a toddler. When the princess is tired, I put her on the reclined position and then she can rest in dreamland while I take us from A to B. When she is awake she can look outside thanks to the upright position.
The belt cushions feel soft and comfortable. The car seat is designed in such a way that a long journey is no problem. The seat is adjustable in various rest positions, ergonomically shaped and the headrest offers support to the head.

The only possible disadvantage is that you cannot pick this chair out of the car with the child due to the design choice. This in itself is not necessarily a disadvantage. After all, it also means that you don't always have that chair swinging around the house or that you have to work hard to make the impossible angle with your small car and the small parking space. I found it especially useful at the time because I was always so clumsily bent over to release and lift my baby, who was still so bendable. Preferably without bumping the little head against the handle. This is already a problem with this chair anyway, because you can just turn your little one towards you and unpack it easily.
