Last weekend we went to the Dierenbos Holiday Park, part of Libema, which also includes the Safari Resort where we have been. Full of enthusiasm and ready for some family time, we packed our suitcases on Friday afternoon. How relaxed is it if you only have to pack your bags just before you go. And that you only have to drive 20 minutes. Of course the children were also quite surprised. Hey? Are we there already? Yes guys, get out, we are at the Dierenbos Holiday Park in Vinkel!
We park our car at the last fallow deer house of Vakantiepark Dierenbos. We are right at the front of this holiday park, next to an outdoor playground and with a view of a large meadow from our bedrooms. The cottage gives a great feeling of 'private' and personally I love that. I like to be around people, but I also really like when I can isolate myself a bit. Enjoy the peace.

As you can see, Dierenbos Holiday Park is very close to Den Bosch. And since we live in Schijndel ourselves (bottom center of the map), this is a home game for us. Normally you will drive towards the Dierenbos Holiday Park on the A59, because it is relatively close to the highway, even if it does not bother you. However, our navigation sent us all the way through.
Upon entering you drive into a huge long avenue with tall trees, a decent entrance you can say. And right at the beginning of it are all the fallow deer houses that we could go to. However, the reception is a bit further. We first park the car there to register, but we notice that it is also fine to walk in the following days, because you can easily cross the inside if you are on foot.
All types of accommodations at Holiday Park Dierenbos have an animal name, which is a nice idea! The accommodations vary from stone bungalows to wooden houses and from a real tree house to lodge tents. You also have a group farm and beautiful villas, but you can also bring your own caravan or tent.
On arrival at the Dierenbos Holiday Park, our entire house will of course be 'assessed' immediately. I don't know about you when you're somewhere, but with us beds are demanded right away. It therefore takes some effort to keep our master bedroom to ourselves, but hey, a bedroom with an infrared sauna, I won't let that take away from me. Fortunately, the answer is simple. Son is after the squirrel duvet cover, so a simple change of the duvets gives everyone his little happiness.
I do throw open the doors and windows everywhere to let the wind blow through. There's a fresh-spray-air-from-the-cleaner that I personally don't like very much. Just add some normal fresh natural air and that smell will disappear in no time. Frank was not bothered by it, so this has to do with personal preferences.
As said, we spent a weekend in the Damhert bungalow, but then the luxury version, with hot tub, yeah! You understand that Frank had to start heating immediately upon arrival, because a hot tub is the ultimate for our children. If you stay from Friday to Sunday, you can find them there at least three times. With the first firing, however, you should assume that you will need a little longer for that. After all, you first have to fill the hot tub with clean water - which is ice cold - and then heat that water by heating it vigorously. Three bags of wood further on Friday evening at 22.30 (!) we could finally go to the hot tub with the four of us. Clumped in with the heat supply because the temperature wasn't quite high enough yet, haha, but we were in it! I always find it super cozy to sit in such a tub in the dark. Nice and quiet further and chat with the four of us. Great.
The Dierenbos holiday park is surprising when you look at the number of playgrounds. Although… I think that's also a Libema thing, because that's exactly the case with our sleepovers in the past on the Beekse Bergen.
All fields with accommodations, but also the fields for caravans and tents have small playgrounds in the middle. Fantastic for the little ones to have something to play on the field itself - near the tent. Completely ideal, of course, because you simply cannot let the little ones go to the large playgrounds on their own. A swing, a slide, a small climbing frame, that sort of thing.
There are a number of larger playgrounds in Vakantiepark Dierenbos. With huts to climb into, slides, swings and, for example, a small cable car that you can hang from.
Of course sandboxes all over the place, a good part of which has now traveled back home with us.
Just before the mini golf we ran into some acquaintances… well what do you want when you're 20 minutes away from home. But in the end we tore ourselves away from the terrace and the delicious cappuccino to go play mini golf.
Something we should not miss. Son has a kind of miniature golf course fetish, so every golf course we encounter anywhere should be played. The fact that he lost fat this time from his sister did not spoil the fun. Well, just a little while…
They have an indoor swimming pool in Vakantiepark Dierenbos. Not very big, but big enough to enjoy yourself for a few hours, while your parents enjoy a cappuccino on the terrace outside. Unfortunately peanut butter… Lotte is not yet 8 years old (almost) and then someone has to stay in the pool, even if big brother of 12 is there. Small damper on the fun, because I was alone outside drinking a cappuccino (because I had also taken the dog to the terrace), my hubby was inside the warm pool and after an hour he had seen it there and had to kids out too. So keep that in mind if you have a plan in mind.
Fortunately, this time it was not as frustrating as the Tiki Pool in Duinrell where we once were. There my daughter was not allowed to swim without water rings because she was not 1.20 m tall. Even though she had her A and B diploma. Then she was really not amused 😉 .
The outdoor swimming pool of Vakantiepark Dierenbos was not yet open but is of course wonderful when the warm summer months arrive.
Swimming water at the larger playground and in front of the lodge tents. I think this beach-like scene will be the busiest part of the Dierenbos Holiday Park in the summer months. It feels beach house-like when you see the lodge tents on the edge of the sand and even last weekend there were already children in the water. When it's a bit colder, they stroll around the edge with a shovel and in warmer weather (it was 21° on Sunday) they just splash around in their bathing suit.
Another hobby of my son. bowling. We don't do it very much I must say, but this time we planned it as the end of the weekend. An hour of throwing balls, a soft drink and a portion of bitterballen provides excellent entertainment. Of course Frank wins with his huge amount of strikes, you can't argue with that!
If you are a fanatic fisherman, then you can have fun here at Dierenbos Holiday Park. Not on the huge ornamental carp in the pond at the mini golf, please, but in the large fish pond near our house. There are some rules of the game on a board for the experts among us, I haven't looked at it very closely because I don't like it, those fish on a hook. By the way, dogs are not allowed in this fish pond, you get that!
The many animal parks that you will find at the holiday park are super fun. From apalcas to fallow deer (so cute) and from a pony to pot-bellied pigs, chickens and rabbits. Also the necessary birds are not lacking in a spacious aviary.
