Even if the Stone Age leaves me unmoved, I was fascinated by Newgrange, a UNESCO listed site near Dublin, the capital. Built in Neolithic times, this tomb is nestled behind a dazzling quartz wall. "These stones come from 90 km away," says guide John Clarke. This is the first instance of rock'n'roll (rolling stone) in Ireland." Full of humour, he recounts this site and its 19 m long corridor leading to a mortuary chamber. Not a single drop of water has filtered for 5,000 years! A technical feat in front of which we remain baba.
I looked for a traditional sweater, but it's mission impossible as the knits look made in China... except those of Cléo. In the past, sweater designs told a story. It even “read” the marital status of sailors from the Aran Islands! A code that made it possible to recognize bodies lost at sea. I fell back on Penney's, the Irish chain at low prices (Primark abroad).
