"What? Is there no wifi on holiday? Then I won't come with you!'… Joyce hears her son say that. In the past, when choosing the accommodation for the summer holidays, 3 things were important:where is the accommodation located, what does it host and can the kids have some fun? Now only one thing really matters. At least, if I'm to believe the studies. And yes:is there wifi † In places 2 and 3:is the Wi-Fi free, and is there not interference half the time? One may be more 'afflicted' by it than the other.
And to be honest, I do understand the outcome of that investigation. I wouldn't like it either. And from Joyce I know that she just doesn't go, if there is no wifi on vacation 😉 . How important do you think it is that you can still be online while on holiday? Do you already take this into account when booking? Then you are not alone:a quarter of the Dutch would rather have WiFi on holiday than a swimming pool † That scares me a bit!

If you have to be online for work, it is quite logical that you take WiFi into account at your holiday address. Or do you leave your tablet at home out of self-protection? Incidentally, there are probably also people who would not even arrive at their destination without the Internet. Can you still read an old-fashioned map or are you literally and figuratively lost without your GPS system?

And after arrival, is an internet connection just as important to you? Then you are not alone. Research has shown that no fewer than 7 out of 10 Dutch people find WiFi at their holiday address a must. One in five people even experience serious holiday stress in the absence of WiFi.
Ten years ago we could hardly imagine it, but nowadays almost everyone is online all the time. And so:accessible. Then you can feel a bit 'bald' when you go on holiday and don't have WiFi. Or do you think that is the ultimate way of enjoying a peaceful holiday? We are very curious:are the Dutch really so dependent on the WiFi signal? Since we are bloggers ourselves, we may not be very representative. Yes, we love wifi † Ellen already wrote about her attempts to finally provide their French holiday home with WiFi. And I also like to have WiFi on holiday; yet I personally would never prefer it to a swimming pool. Vacation remains vacation, in my opinion.
And what about you? Is a good internet connection so important to you on holiday, or do you still have the swimming pool as first priority like me? For some it is a real must, wifi on holiday, for others it can be stolen.
So we now know about Joyce… she can't live without it, but for a blogger and self-employed person this may not be so strange, her husband is already busy looking for suitable solutions.
Fortunately, there is no longer any difference in Europe with your bundle these days. yo-hoo. If you have a nice monthly internet subscription that allows you to access the internet without WiFi… then this will also be available within Europe from this month at the same rates.
The problem has already been solved for the telephone, now a good WiFi connection for the laptop, so that you can work every now and then. If there is no WiFi, you can also use Mifi, the mobile WiFi. Of course there are costs associated with this, but this way you still have WiFi on holiday.
We adults may be able to use it, but more and more children also want WiFi on holiday. Do you take the tablet with you to occasionally sleep in, or do you leave it at home on purpose? And if it is packed, do you have any special holiday rules regarding its use?
